Page Two...The wheelwright’s cottage and the square.

 

The Wheelwright’s cottage in the early seventies: that’s Alice delivering the post. The last wheelwright was Mr Perkins. He also made coffins, including one in 1949 for my grandfather Tommy Boyles, the last village blacksmith.

Going back further to 19?? Everywhere looks a little less manicured. The cottage on the left  that was the village shop in the fifties and (With sixties still has its thatch…
